Let's get started

Are you attending high school?

Are you on an I.E.P.?

More info: IEP (Individual Education Plan)

An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is a documented plan developed for a student with special needs that describes individualized goals, adaptations, modifications, the services to be provided, and includes measures for tracking achievement.

Do you want to go to back to school?

More info: Upgrading

In order to pursue post-secondary, some students may need to improve their grades and take additional credits to obtain pre-requisites or meet admission requirements. In the Yukon, upgrading courses are available through AVS Online and Yukon University.

More info: Adult Grad

Personal reasons may prevent you from meeting the graduation requirements in the regular timeframe. If you find yourself in this situation, completing high school as an adult student is an option. As an adult student, you must complete all of the required courses for a total of 20 credits. To enter the Adult Graduation Program, you must be 18 years of age or older. You are allowed to attend high school in the Yukon up until the age of 21. After age 21, you can enroll in upgrade courses through the University Access Pathways program at Yukon University or other post-secondary institutions to gain the credits necessary for post-secondary admission.

Do you think you might want to go to college or university?

Leaving school?

More info: School Completion Certificate

The School Completion Certificate is commonly called an Evergreen Certificate (named after the evergreen tree pictured on the certificate) and is sometimes called a School Leaving Certificate. It is not a graduation credential, but rather, a recognition of a student’s successful completion of their educational goals as set out in their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).A School Completion Certificate does not meet graduation requirements and can only be given to students who are on an IEP.

More info: Universities, Colleges and Institutes of Technology

After graduating high school, many students will pursue further education in universities (generally providing degree programs), colleges (which may have university level courses but would specialize in diploma programs), and Institutes of Technology (which specialize in applied science and trades education).

More info: Trades

Trades refers to manual labour jobs that require training or a highly specific skill set. To pursue a career in the trades, it may include post-secondary education, apprenticeships and on-the-job training. Examples include: electrician, hairstylist, cook, arborist, mechanic, etc.

More info: On-the-Job-Training

You may choose to immediately enter the workforce upon completing high school. Employers provide training on the job and you may be able to earn a fair wage.
